Sunflowers are so big and bright and beautiful, even in the absence of their bright, yellow color. I love how this black and white sunflower looks in a room full of light with a splash of soft pink. It’s called “Sunflower Got Me by the Hour.”
If you’re wondering what size is right for your room or nook, start by measuring the wall where you’d like to see it hung. To be more precise, use the following formula: [wall width] x 0.57 = [ideal width of artwork]. Let’s use the framed sunflower image below as an example. As you can see, the print is hanging over a bed. Let’s say it’s a queen-size bed, because, well, you are a queen! Instead of measuring the entire wall, you’ll want to measure the width of your bed or headboard. A standard queen bed is 60” wide. So we’ll use the width of the bed as a substitute for wall width since it is the focus of the room. In this case, the hanging wall is 60” wide. Multiply 60” x 0.57 = 34.2” wide. Always go up a size, rather than down. So, the ideal size for our framed sunflower would be 36” x 24” You’ll want to keep your frame width in mind as well. The example below shows a 1” inch frame and 1/2” mat.
